In July 2021, Yantai Kingway Science & Technology Co., Ltd. proudly completed the manufacturing and delivery of 200 ceramic valves for two major projects in Indonesia – the OBI Nickel-Cobalt Project and the Morowali HPAL Project, led by PT. HUAYUE NICKEL COBALT and designed by China ENFI Engineering Corp. These projects mark significant milestones in the industrial partnership between China and Indonesia, exemplifying cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Background: A Growing China-Indonesia Partnership

Since President Xi Jinping first introduced the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road in Indonesia in 2013, Indonesia has become a crucial hub in China’s Belt and Road strategy. In the last eight years, bilateral trade between the two countries has steadily grown. Despite the global pandemic, trade volume reached USD 78.37 billion in 2020. China’s direct investment in Indonesia also surged by 86.5%, making China the second-largest foreign investor, with key investments in mining, agriculture, power, and digital industries.

Indonesia's mineral wealth, particularly in nickel, plays a pivotal role in the global supply chain. With estimated reserves of over 5.6 million tons, Indonesia ranks among the world’s top producers. Nickel and its derivatives are crucial for the electric vehicle industry, making the success of projects like the OBI Nickel-Cobalt Plant and the Morowali HPAL Plant essential.

Why Ceramic Valves? Addressing Extreme Conditions in Nickel Extraction

Nickel extraction through High-Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) presents extreme challenges for industrial valves, causing severe corrosion and abrasion. Ensuring stable and efficient operations in these harsh conditions is critical for projects like Indonesia’s largest nickel sulfate plant and Morowali’s 60,000-ton-per-year nickel production facility, which represents a USD 12.8 billion investment.

After five rounds of on-site evaluations and quality assessments by valve experts from China ENFI and PT. HUAYUE, Kingway emerged as the winning supplier. With over 20 years of experience and a proven track record in ceramic valve technology, we stood out for our high-performance products and competitive pricing. Our ceramic valves are now integrated into these landmark Belt and Road Initiative projects, marking a significant step forward in our international business expansion.

Looking Ahead: Committed to Excellence in the Belt and Road Initiative

The Belt and Road Initiative aims to create a community of shared interests, responsibilities, and mutual benefits, fostering political trust, economic integration, and cultural exchange across Eurasia and beyond. As a leading manufacturer of ceramic valves, Kingway remains committed to upholding the values of integrity, innovation, and perseverance. Our high-quality ceramic valve solutions are designed to support the safety, stability, and efficiency of industrial systems operating under extreme conditions.

We take pride in contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative’s vision of creating a path of peace, prosperity, openness, and innovation. With each milestone, Kingway reaffirms its dedication to delivering excellence and building long-term partnerships across industries and borders.
